HARTFORD — The Hartford Joint No. 1 School District will be holding the first of four referendum information nights at the district administrative building, 402 W. Sumner St., on Monday at 6 p.m.

According to a news release, the referendum information nights are being held in advance of the Nov. 5 general election to give district residents a chance to learn more about the referendum on the Nov. 5 ballot in the elementary and middle school district.

The referendum will ask district voters to authorize the issuance of up to $8.2 million in general obligation bonds for a comprehensive school facility improvement project that includes:

â–  District-wide capital maintenance;

â–  Remodeling and infrastructure upgrades;

â–  Construction of an addition at Lincoln Elementary School;

â–  Acquisition of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.

"The Board of Education has prioritized a strategic approach to financing the project. By allocating over $7 million from the District’s Fund 46, the referendum is designed to have no additional tax impact on residents," the release said. "This approach ensures that the current mill rate remains the same, while addressing critical facility needs."

In addition to the referendum information night on Monday, the district will hold three more at 6 p.m. in the district administrative building on Oct. 9, 24 and 31.

"Content will be the same for all four meetings, so community members are encouraged to select the date and time that works best in their schedules. Each evening session will begin with a presentation, followed by the opportunity for attendees to get their questions answered," the release said. "Attendees can also schedule a future school building tour at these meetings."
